Michael Corradini started his own business in the fall of 2017 after spending several years building his skills and the confidence to set out on his own. His story is an especially inspiring one, not only because he started a business when he was just 19 years of age (he is 22 now), but because he was able to overcome a troubled childhood that would have led a lot of other young people down a different path.
Michael was born on Whidbey, but he moved several times as a child until his family settled back on the island when he was 11. He admits that he was quite a handful when he was young and got into a lot of trouble. He spent time in juvenile detention facilities, and never completed high school.
When he was just 14, he had an epiphany: “I don’t have any plans for my future.” He began working with a man who had a landscaping business. Over the next two years, he expanded his abilities to do all kinds of yard work, lawn care and other types of maintenance work.
A friend recommended him to Josh Heggenes, who had a lawn care business. Josh gave him a full time job that allowed Michael to expand his skills. He also learned to do other kinds of maintenance and general property care.
By the time Michael was 19, and had been a reliable employee for five years, a good friend suggested he create his own business. Following that advice, he established MC Whidbey Property Management, now MC Whidbey Propertys. He has been amazed and pleasantly surprised at how word-of-mouth has helped his business to grow and prosper.
His motto for the company is “Be the best out there.” He has several regular clients and a vision to continue to build his business into a company where his reputation will bring him all the clients he needs.
Michael says, “My company is a one-stop shop for all your property needs.” He has all of his own tools and equipment to do a broad range of tasks. His current skills include:
- Roof and gutter cleaning
- Pressure washing
- Installation of irrigation systems
- Tree maintenance
- Basic carpentry
He emphasizes, that he does all of the work himself: when you hire Michael Corradini, he will take care of everything your project requires.
One of his recent customers told Michael, “You did a fantastic job. We are referring you to our neighbors.” That’s just what Michael is counting on to continue to help his business grow.
