Good Cheer is a community grassroots charity which has been helping neighbors in need on the south end of Whidbey Island since 1962.
Over the decades, this nonprofit organization 501(c)3 organization has grown into a model Food Bank, supported chiefly by proceeds from its two Thrift Stores.
Clients include the working poor, single mothers, the disabled, the unemployed, displaced homemakers, seniors on fixed incomes, homeless individuals, and families facing temporary financial crises who need help putting food on the table. All are welcomed with smiles and respect in our grocery-style Food Bank.
More than 470 volunteers and 16 staff members operate the Food Bank and Item Donation Center (open 6 days a week), the on-site and additional gardens which supply fresh produce to the Food Bank, plus two Thrift Stores (open 7 days a week). The nonprofit is overseen by a 15-member elected Board of Directors representing our diverse community. Board members hold office for three years.
Good Cheer Thrift Stores operate in the best sense of recycling and re-purposing; selling locally donated quality, still-usable clothing, shoes, housewares, books, furniture and appliances at sites in Langley and Clinton.
With the support of our caring and giving community we have created a Food Bank with expanded hours, which provides choice, dignity and anonymity to clients.
