Come find a special treasure at Red Rooster Antique Mall in Freeland

by Carolyn Tamler 10th October 2022

Pat and Cece Egging, who created and manage the Red Rooster Antique Mall, say that it evolved from a quest to replace a missing piece from an heirloom tea set. Pat explains: “We had several pieces of depression glass that were passed down from my mother. The creamer to the tea sets was always missing, and we just started looking.”  He adds with a smile, “We now have completed these sets.”

The Red Rooster Antique Mall at 1635 Main Street in downtown Freeland has 12 participants who showcase their wares in a single location. Each vendor offers a variety of unique goods including beautiful handcrafted items dating from the 1700’s to the present, with beautiful antiques and collectibles of all kinds, furniture for the Victorian home, beach cottage or back woods home, and patio and garden furnishings.  Red Rooster Antique Mall now also has a line of greeting cards by local artists.

The Eggings established their first antique store – Upsy Daisy – in September 2000 in Freeland. At their current location, visitors to The Red Rooster Antique Mall are surprised by how large the interior of the store is and the amazing variety of items offered for sale.

Pat says they pride themselves on having a wide selection of rare glass, tableware, vintage toys, old books, antique linens, clothing, shoes, jewelry and purses, as well as furniture and other items that lure professional and amateur collectors.

The Egging’s also have a line of new lampshades, and Pat offers lamp repair services.

A recent addition to the store is chalk paint and painting supplies by Earth Safe Finishes. Along with carrying this fabulous brand of chalk paint, they also offer classes on how to create some of the most lovely pieces of re-purposed furniture. This non-toxic, no voc paint is perfect for updating and recycling drab kitchen cabinets, dressers, kitchen tables, night stands and outdoor furniture.

The Eggings believe that just one visit to the Red Rooster Antique Mall will awaken the collector’s passion in just about anyone.

The Red Rooster Antique Mall is open six days a week, Monday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday by appointment.
