Leo and Leto’s Winery and Bistro in Freeland is a great place to go for dinners, weekend brunches, wine and entertainment.

Kyle O’Neill, owner of Leo and Leto’s, was the Chef de Cuisine at Bloom’s Winery before assuming ownership of the winery and bistro. He has extensive experience in the food and wine industry. He attended the University of Alaska where he studied culinary arts and has been working in restaurants for the past 20 years. He has worked with several amazing chefs. He says “Food and wine always called to me, and I wanted to follow a career in this industry.”

Before taking on the job at Bloom’s in May 2023, Kyle worked with Scott Frasier at Frasier’s Gourmet Hideaway in Oak Harbor.

Shortly after starting at Bloom’s, Kyle began working in the winery with Ken Bloom, learning the wine making side of the business. When Ken and Virginia Bloom mentioned they were thinking of retiring, Kyle knew it was the perfect opportunity to buy the restaurant and winery.

Kyle handles all aspects of the business. He is the Executive Chef and manages the restaurant. He notes, “I use high-quality ingredients as the base for my menu. I make all the sauces in-house and use local ingredients like Wildly Beloved Pasta and 3 Sisters Beef.” He is pleased with the variety of Italian specialties, made from scratch using fresh ingredients and notes it is the only Italian-themed restaurant on South Whidbey..

Kyle makes the wine, sourcing grapes locally and from eastern Washington. “Legacy Trio” was the first wines Kyle helped blend with the Blooms before their retirement. New wines will be released under the Leo & Leto name, starting with those in the Legacy Collection, wines started by the Blooms and finished by Kyle .

In addition to the excellent menus and quality of the meals there, Leo and Letos also provides live music every Saturday night, and occasionally on Wednesday nights, performed by local musicians.

Leo and Letos Winery and Bistro at 5511 S Freeland Ave in Freeland, is open every weekday for dinner from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and, Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Brunch is served every weekend from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
