Everett, WA – November 10, 2025. The YMCA of Snohomish County is proud to announce two strategic additions to its Aquatics leadership team: Kevin Blum, Director of Competitive Swimming and Rosie Kirianov, Head Age Group Coach. Together, they will enhance the Y’s ability to deliver exceptional aquatics programming and strengthen the bridge between swim lessons and the Y’s competitive swim team across Snohomish County.
Kevin joins the Y with a wealth of experience as a competitive swimming coach in both the United States and Australia, coaching athletes to race at multiple National Championships, Olympic Trials, and Team USA. Kevin was named to the US National Team coaching staff in 2013 to help lead the team at the World University Games. He has also spent a number of years coaching at the NCAA Division 1 level. In his new role, he'll oversee all aspects of the Y’s competitive swim program, YMCA of Snohomish County Barracudas (YSCB), including supervising the coaching staff, coordinating meets, and developing teams, while building a unified approach across branches.
“I’m excited to help the YMCA of Snohomish County achieve success at every level,” said Kevin. “The Y’s mission-driven approach aligns perfectly with my belief that swimming develops not just athletes, but strong, confident individuals ready to thrive in and out of the pool.”
Rosie brings deep Y roots and a lifelong connection to the sport of swimming. Her career began at the Y, where she started as a lifeguard and swim instructor before advancing into coaching and leadership roles. She will lead the Age Group competitive swim program and support the consistency and quality of swim instruction across all locations. Her work will focus on coaching young athletes and mentoring instructors.
“I love coaching, not just because of my passion for the sport, but because it gives me the opportunity to help shape and support young individuals as they grow,” said Rosie. “I’m thrilled to join the YMCA of Snohomish County and to help create a strong, connected aquatics community.”
The addition of Kevin and Rosie marks an exciting step in strengthening the YMCA of Snohomish County’s aquatics leadership and ensuring sustainability across programs. Their combined expertise will support growth in competitive swim and lesson participation, while supporting aquatics staff and fostering collaboration among branches.
