Dining in the Freeland Area

The town received its name based on its origins as a socialist commune in the early 1900’s. Literally, in the eyes of its founders, the land of the town was to be free for all people. Some of the first settlers were veterans of a prior experiment in socialism, the nearby Equality Colony.

With stunning views of both water and mountains, Freeland offers nature lovers a great place to hike, or simply stroll along the beach and listen to the crashing waves. On the West side of the island, the Olympic Mountains provide the snow capped background for Mutiny Bay and Puget Sound. Holmes Harbor, Saratoga Passage and the Cascade Mountains are to the East. After enjoying breathtaking views of nature, relax and savor your evening with a wide variety of food and drinks at local dining establishments.
