Jayme Stone Folklife Concert

by Fritha Strand 22nd October 2017

Langley, WA: Whidbey Island Center for the Arts (WICA) presents Jayme Stone on Thursday, November 2nd at 7:30pm.

Liven up your Thursday with the riveting music of Jayme Stone (banjo), Moira Smiley (accordion), Sumaia Jackson (fiddle), and Joe Phillips (bass)!  Jayme Stone’s Folklife follows the bends and bayous through the deep river of song and story. This gathering of versatile musicians blows the dust off of old songs and remakes them for modern ears, with spellbinding singing, virtuosic playing, and captivating storytelling.

Two-time Juno-winning banjoist, composer and instigator Jayme Stone makes music inspired by sounds from around the world—bridging folk, jazz and chamber music. His award-winning albums both defy and honor the banjo’s long role in the world’s music, turning historical connections into compelling sounds.

$20 all seats.  Stop by the Piano Bar before the show for beer, wine, and cocktails and even more toe-tapping good music!

Featuring Jayme Stone (banjo, voice), Moira Smiley (voice, accordion), Sumaia Jackson (fiddle, voice), and Andrew Ryan (bass, voice).

Whidbey Island Center for the Arts is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving the community of South Whidbey Island and beyond. WICA’s mission is to inspire, nourish, and enhance the artistic, social, and economic well-being of the community.
