Whidbey’s Saratoga Orchestra, led by music director Anna Edwards, opens the Sounds
of Summer Concert Series on Wednesday, August 3, at 6PM in Windjammer Park.
Sounds of Summer Concert Series, four consecutive Wednesdays at 6pm of free music
in the park, is presented by The Oak Harbor Music Festival in partnership with
Windermere Real Estate/Whidbey Island.
Saratoga Orchestra’s featured guests will be the Edmonds-based Gothard Sisters,
returning to Whidbey Island to delight audiences with their unique Celtic Folk sound.
The trio has performed in venues including the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC;
performances with Disney Cruise line in Europe; and a tour of Japan in 2019. Blending
Celtic, folk, classical and new age musical influences, the Gothard Sisters bring songs
to life, creating music that is "vivid, inspirational and captivating." (Tim Carroll, Folk
Words Review 2018).
Saratoga Orchestra member Sean Brown arranged music from The Gothard Sisters’
recent release, “Dragonfly,” and earlier releases, for accompaniment by the orchestra.
Rousing patriotic, Celtic-inspired, and movie music is also on the program.
As part of the orchestra’s Talent Development Program, over a dozen students from
local schools will sit side-by-side with the professional musicians of the orchestra for
this special occasion.
