Take a hike on Whidbey Island

Whidbey Island offers plenty of places to exercise the legs and breathe in some fresh, Northwest air. Hikers can find a variety of terrain to enjoy, from old-growth forests fat with Douglas fir, western hemlock, western white pine, wild rhododendrons and huckleberry to shorelines giddy with mountain views and island sunsets. Don’t forget to bring the binoculars in order to capture glimpses of the 200 or so bird species and other wildlife that call Whidbey home, including pileated woodpeckers, barred owls, great horned owls, hawks, black-tailed deer, gray foxes, chipmunks and flying squirrels.
