1. Cute little place.Excellent atmosphere. I was very impressed with the food. Everything we ordered was really good. Mussels and the fried oysters were delicious. Can't wait to go back. 02/10/14

2. Hands down one of the best meals of my life! The beef shoulder with sautéed beet greens, sweet onions, and nectarines in a spiced port reduction was divine! On to dessert...the hazelnut chocolate torte with salted caramel sauce was straight from heaven and the almond cake with bing cherry compote was not far behind! Service was excellent, attentive but not pushy and allowed us to savor our dinner! 02/10/14

3. Holy cow this place had friendly service and the food was amazing. We are from out of town for the Penn cove mussel festival and we may just have to come back here for a little getaway. Thanks to the staffs and chefs for an amazing meal. 03/08/14

4. The Oystercatcher easily earns 5 stars. Our visit this last weekend was amazing. For the reasonable prices we received 5 star service, ambiance and cuisine! We were pleased to find that the restaurant was located right across from By The Cove Vacation Suites where we were staying, which btw is the perfect place to stay when visiting Coupeville!

We called ahead for reservations as many yelp reviews suggested, and it's a good thing we did because this place is tiny! I think saying they have maybe 10 tables is being generous.

We were warmly greeted on entry and waited approx 5 minutes for our table. We had a cozy two top with a romantic lit candle, which was perfect since we were celebrating our anniversary.

Thy don't have a large selection of beer which is sad for me but for the wine lovers out there I thought it was quite a large list. I ended up ordering a Bloody Mary, it was good but not great, I prefer mine to be spicy. And as a minor note the menu said it came with an okra, but it was a green bean instead. Sad face.

As a starter we ordered the mussels which were absolutely amazing and the hush puppies, they were also very good. We chose the specials of the day for our entrees... He got the halibut and I chose the duck. They were both absolutely delicious. My duck skin was crispy, the duck moist. His halibut was perfectly cooked and melt in your mouth scrumptious. The portions here are not overly generous, so I really do suggest getting appetizers if you want to leave satisfied.

Now dessert! We ordered two because we couldn't decide. The flourless almond cake and the chocolate gâteau. Both were super but the chocolate one I will forever remember and dream about!

So I don't think there's anything left to be said. We will be back, the Oystercatcher is AMAZING! 08/20/13

5. The food and service doesn't get any better than this. Came here with some friends for dinner and while it is expensive it is well worth it. The table started with Housemade pickles, Bleu cheese filled aebleskivers, and Kumamoto oysters. Wow they are all great. The pickles were not what you would expect, they were various root vegetables and wonderful. The Aebleskivers were with wild mushrooms and tarragon ragout left you wanting more. Dinner was the Seared Halibut with ghost squash agnosotti, rosemary blossoms, and roasted shallots. Very well prepared and excellent quality Halibut.
Dessert was the Beignet poached pear, salted maple ice cream. Wow what a great combination of flavors. Strongly recommend for any special occasion. 04/07/14

Service:
We arrived and were greeted and seated right away. Another person came and took our order and we ordered some starters. Then a second person came back (who remained our waiter for the rest of the night) and took our drink and appetizer/entre orders. When the starters came out we all realized that the first person had messed up our order -- they made it right and ultimately we got everything we wanted AND a portion off our bill for the mistake. Even with the mistake it was TOP NOTCH service. We are all humans and mistakes are made and they did the right thing.
Quality of Food and Taste:
You can tell from one look at the menu that the ingredients are fresh, local, in-season and unique. This is something I look for in restaurants and expect from places like this. EVERYTHING looked good so we ended up ordering 4 starters, 2 appetizers and one entree -- in addition to dessert. This is one of the few restaurants I've been to (especially in the U.S.) where every bite was absolutely perfect and delicious. It reminded me of eating at some of the nicest cafes in Paris - except with NW ingredients.
I guarantee you that if you like quality food you will NOT be disappointed by this place. Go, now! 02/27/14

7. We came here on our anniversary trip to Whidbey island since our B&B was right around the corner and it was perfect! The restaurant was mostly full when we arrived, but we got a table without a problem at all. We got help with wine recommendations and really enjoyed the WA Grenache that was recommended. The food seemed to be French-influenced, but with NW ingredients.
Appetizers:
Bread plate with housemade potato chips and dill sour cream
Salad with crisp root vegetable chips, goat cheese, and hazelnut butter (I think there was something like a currant jam, too)
Pan fried oysters
Apple sorbet with olive oil (really grassy and citrusy) and a rosemary flower as a palate cleanser
Main courses:
Rabbit loin with poached egg and duck fat biscuit, garnished with watercress
Duck leg with panzanella salad
Dessert:
Beignets with some kind of ice cream and pears,
Pannacotta with meyer lemon and a tuile cookie
Pour over coffee
Our server was really friendly and helpful, and we loved everything that made its way across our plates. We were out by 8:30, but did feel bad that we were the last table in the place, even though our server assured us it was ok (it sounds like they close whenever the dinner rush dies down, so don't dilly dally about getting over there). 04/06/14
