Whidbey Island Kayaking Moves Into New Facilities To Provide Even More Experiences and Services

New Headquarters Introduces All-New Options for Tours, Classes, Rentals, Repairs and Paddlecraft Storage

 

Langley, Washington – April 10, 2023--With the goal of providing a greater range of outdoor experiences for area residents and guests along the Whidbey Island coastline,long-time local guided tour and full-service rental company Whidbey Island Kayaking today announced the expansion of a new base of operations.


“We’re excited to be able to take sea kayakers and beach hikers to the best of what our home island offers,” explains co-ownerKrista Loercher. “In addition to the loop tours and oceanside walks we’ve always done, we can now shuttle people to select put-inor take-out points to enjoy favorable tides and wind conditions. Our new centrally located headquarters in Bayview also gives usmore room so we can expand key services such as paddlecraft repair, consignment sales of used gear and kayak storage.”


“Whidbey Island—and the entire Salish Sea—is a globally unique treasure much loved by those of us who live here year-round andvisitors alike. This ecosystem is something to nurture, respect and hold in the highest value,” Loercher continues. “We see a bigpart of our job as improving access and helping more people get closer to what makes this island and area unique. We’re big oncollaboration with other local businesses and community organizations, and by working together, we can use our collective insight and experiences to gain new insights into our everyday lives and the greater world around us.”


Guided tours available starting April 1, 2023 include loop adventures, point-to-point trips and seasonal or pop-up experiences.All ages are welcome, though for kayaking adventures children need to weigh 50 pounds or more to wear the required personalflotation devices (PFDs) provided by Whidbey Island Kayaking. Family-friendly beach walks are more suitable for younger children.Customized and private tours can also be arranged. Rental equipment is available.


In addition to new tours and services, hourly rentals return and are available from the Harbor of South Whidbey beginning in Mayalong with classes on Goss Lake. Bioluminescent tours begin in June and run through September. Reservations are required for all and can be made on the website. Whidbey locals get a 10% discount during the months of May and September.
