Kalypso’s Gifts, at 302 1st Street in Langley offers jewelry, tarot and oracle decks, sun catchers, robes, crystals, candles….and much more.
The store was opened five years ago by Giavonne and her daughter, Bijan. They always knew that one day they would open their own little shop, in their own little town, on their own little Island, with their own favorite things. Giavonne says: “I lived in the Caribbean for most of my life, and I knew that I wanted to live on an island.”
They visited the Pacific Northwest and the San Juan Islands and decided this was an area where they could create a business. They settled on Whidbey Island and began fulfilling their quest to create a metaphysical store in downtown Langley.

With that in mind, they began to search for their store’s “voice,” and came up with Kalypso. Who was she? What was her story? Why was she here? Why now? The story of Kalypso is that she was a Goddess forsaken by Homer as a mere “Sea-Witch”, Giavonne & Bijan knew her story went much deeper: she was a savior, a lover, a mother, a lighthouse for souls lost at sea.
Kalypso's Gifts was created with three major intentions:
- A unique space, something no one had ever done before. A place of authenticity, creativity, and a little bit of everything from all walks of life.
- A place centered in and of community, supporting local artists and handmade goods.
- A place where you walk in the door and think, “Wow! I have never seen this before!”
Giavonne and Bijan have made excellent connections with the South Whidbey community, and local artists stop by and visit the shop; many of them ask if they can show their merchandise at Kalypso’s. Creative people who visit Kalypso’s Gifts often say “I wish I could open a store like this.”

Giavonne and Bijan enjoy talking with people who come in the shop and are glad to answer any questions. They know that many of the items offered at Kalypso’s Gifts are unique, and they appreciate interacting with visitors to the store.
Kalypso's Gifts is a welcoming place for people to simply come in and begin walking around the store and seeing what’s there.
Kalypso's Gifts is open seven days a week, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
