Regina Kastler makes beautiful baskets that are being sold at Artworks Gallery in Langley

by Carolyn Tamler 8th June 2026

Regina Kastler says, “I planned to move to Whidbey since I was in my 20’s.”  Now that she is settled on the island, people are noticing her handmade baskets that are being sold at Artworks Gallery and from her home on Whidbey. Her work is part of the Whidbey Art Trail.

Regina learned to weave from her sister and began making and selling her baskets in 1988. As her work was seen more, she began receiving invitations to do shows.  She has displayed her baskets at the Nutcracker show in Anacortes and at Lake Chelan, as well as other galleries in Washington.

She has made nearly 20,000 baskets (and eight sailboats) and she comments: “It is a lot of work being a professional artist, but there is a lot of satisfaction seeing how much people enjoy the baskets I make.”

She made her first connection with Artworks Gallery by visiting their Oak Harbor location two and a half years ago.  Now her baskets are being sold at Artworks Gallery in Langley, and an increasing number of people are noticing how beautifully crafted and colorful they are.

She appreciates being part of the Artworks Gallery community in Langley: “All of the artists here are friendly and welcoming.” Visitors to the gallery are drawn to the variety of baskets that she makes. She also invites people to come to the gallery in her home to see the broad range of colors and designs she creates with her baskets.

Regina is the featured artist for the month of June at Artworks Gallery, located in the courtyard at 221 Second Street, Langley, WA. https://www.artworkswhidbey.com/regina-kastler-basketry.html
