David Garber, who manages the Freeland Chamber of Commerce notes “There are lots of great businesses on Whidbey.” The Chamber, which has grown to 140 members, is a diverse mix, including 25% who are members of other organizations from across the Island!
David had a lot of history with Whidbey before he came to live on the island. He grew up in Woodinville, but spent a lot of weekends growing up visiting Whidbey. His business background includes a variety of leadership roles at Microsoft where he focused on worldwide marketing, and global communications.
At the Greater Freeland Chamber of Commerce, he works with both members and the board to continue and build out opportunities to drive the greatest positive impact in the community. He has been in this role for a year now, and is appreciated by the membership for what he is accomplishing in this position. He notes, “We connect people and organizations, and we don’t just serve the community, we are a part of it!”
Currently, members of the Chamber have the chance to participate in a variety of Chamber events and programming! They also serve as vendors and sponsors at major events throughout the community year round! David says, “We are a forum for our community.” He adds, “People are the lifeblood of this organization.”
