This year’s featured speakers are Anna Hosick-Kalahan and Jessica Schwab, owners and operators of Skagit Woolen Works in Mount Vernon, WA. Before they started the mill, Anna was lifelong fiber arts enthusiast and Jessica worked as a technical editor in the knitting industry. They became mill owners in 2022 when they purchased a one-hundred-year-old carder they affectionately named Rosie. Today, Skagit Woolen Works is a woman-owned, zero waste fiber processing facility that serves fiber farms and fiber lovers in the Puget Sound region and beyond.Anna and Jess are closely involved with the local fiber community, so it’s no wonder that they’ve chosen the topic “Exploring Local Wool” for Spin-In. There will be a presentation on Saturday and a hands-on workshop on Sunday.*****
