In 2025, the majestic Schooner SUVA is marking a century of sailing Pacific Northwest waters!
Join local Gary McIntyre for an hour-long presentation celebrating 100 years of this extraordinary schooners adventures in the Salish Sea. Whidbey Island Maritime Heritage Foundation (WIMHF) will trace Suva's journey from a vision in the minds of Frank Pratt and naval architect Ted Geary to her initial mooring in Penn Cove and her purchase by WIMHG in 2015 through today. WIMHF currently boasts over 50 volunteers who sail SUVA around Whidbey Island during the summer months and work hard maintaining this testament to local maritime heritage year-round.
This presentation will be followed by a Q&A, time to explore a small exhibit of items from SUVA's history, and, weather permitting, a chance to tour this historic vessel while it is docked at Coupeville Wharf.
