About this Event

Celebrate the music of the women of the Django Era (1920s, 1930s, and 1940s), a period when females were not typically playing as a performance group!

Café Impromptu plays French chanson and music in the style of Django Reinhardt, the “father of Gypsy jazz”. The ensemble was formed by the band’s bassist, Kristi O’Donnell, as a space for women who share a love of this music to play and feel accepted.

Café Impromptu has been involved individually and as a band in the Django Fest NW, America’s premier Django festival, since 2015.
